ColFi3D™ Tissue Platform

The in vitro tissue platfom to mimic human tissues

ColFi3D™ is a proprietary 3D vascularized tissue scaffold created using native insoluble collagen fibers. It mimics the complex, fibrous microenvironment of human tissue. Unlike most 2D or 3D models, our platform co-lays cells into a natural fiber architecture, enabling the spontaneous formation of tissue and blood vessels, creating a living biopsy that responds to drugs exactly as it would inside a patient’s body.

The Problem with Conventional Models

Traditional cell culture systems fail to replicate several critical aspects of human tissue biology. Cells grown on flat 2D plastic surfaces adopt distorted morphologies and behaviors that differ significantly from those observed in vivo. Commonly used soluble or animal-derived collagen gels lack the native fiber organization and hierarchical structure found in human extracellular matrix. In addition, the mechanical stiffness of these systems is often not physiologically relevant, altering cell signaling and function. Most conventional models also lack vascular structure, a key component in tissue architecture and tissue microenvironment. As a result, drug responses observed in these simplified systems frequently fail to translate to patient outcomes. Together, these limitations contribute to high clinical trial failure rates and reduce the predictive reliability of preclinical screening.

Our Scientific Approach

ColFi3D™ uses native insoluble collagen fibers to recreate authentic extracellular matrix architecture. Patient-derived or engineered cells are embedded directly into a pre-formed native fiber scaffold. With the natural tissue-like microenvironment, Cells reorganize within the preserved collagen network, forming structured 3D tissue constructs. The platform supports vascular-like network development and matrix remodeling, enhancing physiological relevance. Tissues remain viable and reactive for extended drug testing and functional analysis.

Why Insoluble Collagen Matters

ColFi3D™ maintains the natural insoluble collagen fiber structure, enabling cells to interact with a matrix that more closely reflects in vivo conditions. This preserved architecture allows cells to sense and respond to mechanical and spatial cues with greater fidelity, supporting more physiologically relevant behavior and drug response.

Integrated with FibroAI™

ColFi3D™ generates complex architectural tissue data.
FibroAI™ analyzes this data to quantify:

  • Structural organization
  • Vascular morphology
  • Tissue normalization in response to therapy

Together, the platform moves beyond cell death metrics to measure tissue-level therapeutic response.

Our Vision

ColFi3D™ is designed to close the translational gap between preclinical models and human outcomes. By reconstructing tissue architecture at the matrix level, we aim to improve predictive accuracy in oncology and drug development.
